Rationale of The Mascot

The Malayan tiger has been chosen as the official mascot for the 2026 ASEAN University Games in Kuala Lumpur. The species Panthera tigris jacksoni was selected because it is endemic to Peninsular Malaysia, making it a unique symbol not found in any other ASEAN country. It embodies qualities of courage, agility, energy, and resilience—traits that align with the spirit of sportsmanship and the aspirations of AUG 2026. With its cheerful expression and dynamic pose, the mascot reflects confidence, readiness to face challenges, and a sense of camaraderie among university sports councils, athletes, and the broader university community. Overall, it inspires bravery, collaboration, and a strong fighting spirit, representing the ambition to nurture well-rounded, high-performing athletes on the global stage. Official name of this mascot is 'TIGRAZE'.
